Fun fact: People wait hours to ride this elevator. If you walk up the stairs, past the elevator, turn left on the next street, go about 100 feet, turn into a cut-through, then walk up a couple of flights of stairs to the right to the Carmo Convent ruins. Facing the convent, turn right and … it’s the top of the lift. You can enjoy the view or pay a small additional fee to reach the very top, all without waiting in line for an elevator for hours.
